I'm sure many feel sorry for the citizens of these hostile nations, and the abuses they suffer at the hands of their governing bodies. But it seems like they should be capable of straightening out their own situations, and not require others to do it for them. How much appreciation, or thanks, would we receive if we did come to their aid? I cannot imagine it would be much, because aren't we basically hated by more than we are liked? So where do so many come off expecting help from us, when it is a thankless undertaking.
We have so many citizens out of work, homeless, in debt, including our government and states, we should be doing more to help ourselves, and less for those who wouldn't appreciate it anyway. Where does the line get drawn? Our own country needs all the help its citizens, and government could ever hope to provide. So why don't we wise up, and tend to what's going on inside our own borders?
I've always heard God helps those who help themselves. And I know not everyone believes in God, and that some have their own version. Maybe if so many weren't doing everything they can to tamp down belief in a higher power, so many dastardly, and evil occurrences wouldn't be happening around the world. I guess I'll never understand. And in many ways, I feel quite fortunate to live where I do.
I'm not real religious, but its hard to look out at the beautiful scenery surrounding me, the blue sky, sunshine, and flowers, and not believe some higher being created it. So I guess I'll keep making the best of it in the country allotted to me.
